If you've read and enjoyed any of the Hearts of the Anemoi books I strongly urge you to read them all. She wrapped up the stories pretty well. I find that Laura Kaye is pretty good at writing about people who have suffered in life and are left altered by it and she does a decent job addressing those issues with her books. It's cool I think to be able to read and enjoy her stories.

For this particular story I can relate to the self hatred for feeling responsible for something horrible happening. She covered that kind of grief pretty well. I appreciated her really writing out the harshness of it because that's real to me and I figure I should feel less stupid for my own thoughts if this awesome author can present it and say you don't have to keep punishing yourself. I appreciate the sentiment.

Towards the end can be a tear jerker though so watch out. If you have a high risk pregnancy occurring right now maybe hold off on reading this book though or just wait to finish it till after. It sucker punched me personally. Im no longer pregnant but it still hit me like a ton of bricks.

I highly recommend this series regardless of any harshness. It's filled with wonderful romances, breathtaking scenery and concepts and just all around cool story lines.

So, I have a Laura Kaye confession to make. I pre-ordered East of Ecstasy so I had it the day it came out. I was afraid I would be so heartbroken that the series was over that I put off reading it until just last week. I was not wrong. I am heartbroken this series is over. However, Laura definitely goes out with a bang.

Devlin, in my opinion is the most complex hero of the series. He's unsure of himself, the family is unsure of him, his own father is unsure of him. He is definitely one I would categorize as an anti-hero at the beginning.

Anna is loyal, devoted, talented, but not without her own barriers to a fulfilling life.

As always, these two are looking for someplace to belong and make sense of their complicated lives. These two are brought together on the tails of where South of Surrender ended so the story continues right out of the chaos of the final battle in South of Surrender.

This story is beautiful! Laura did a great job as always bringing everything together. We got to spend time with all of our favorite characters one more time before the series ended.

This is a great read, there is of course romance, but also the history, action, and of course, the funnies.

I think I may have to re-read the series now that all the books are out and fall in love all over again.

I am so sad the series is over, but I know there will more great stories on the horizon from this awesome author!
East of Ecstasy is the action packed conclusion to the series, and I was not disappointed! Our final couple is Anna and Devlin. Recently, Anna has been having visions which she is compelled to paint. The images are dark and disturbing, and she has no idea what's happening to her. Then one night, one of the figures from her paintings appears in her studio demanding to know why she's painting these scenes. Devlin is trying to stop his father from destroying the world, and he's suspicious of Anna at first for knowing how it'll all turn out. But soon he comes to trust her and with her help, he's able to find the tools he needs to save everyone.

Again, East of Ecstasy has a lot of plot, so the romance is kind of over there somewhere. But the action is pretty much nonstop, since Eurus is planning something huge and has dangerous allies. There's also lots of scenes with the other gods, since everyone has to band together to stop this. I was surprised by the amount of death and despair! This series has been relatively light, but woah. People are dying at every turn! Be prepared!

I thought East of Ecstasy was a fitting ending to this series. Everything that was building over the last two books finally comes to a head. The other gods weren't sure where Devlin's loyaties lied, but quickly learned they were not with his evil father. And after a long battle, the Realm of the Gods is now at peace, and the four cardinal Anemoi have their mates.
